Well I took all last week off and this Monday. It was a week of stark contrasts.

My Brother and his girlfriend came to stay at mine last Saturday for a week as one of our Best Mates was getting married on Thursday and he was Bestman and I was a Groomsman.

We also had a friend over from Belgium and a couple from Canada who were coming to the Wedding. On Saturday to Monday we were going to Belgium as a group.

Monday started great, my girlfriend Natasha took me to her parents caravan at Bridlington for 3 days so we could chill out, it was a shame about the pouring rain though lol.

I was in a shop browsing with her when my Dad called and he never calls so I knew something was wrong right away and was scared to answer. I did and I thought it was going to be his Mother as she is in and out of hospital but it wasn't.

It turned out to be my 20 year old Nephew Sean. They had found a body round the corner from his home and beleived it was him. It took till the next day to offically confirm it but it was him, he had being stabbed to death and they had a 19 year old in custody for it.

To say this has devestated our family is a massive understatement. What's worse is he has left behind a 3 year old daughter who just can't understand where her Daddy has gone.

My Sister and her Husband wanted me to still attend the Wedding and go to Belgium as 'Life goes on...' as my Sister said.

Still I just felt bad whilst being away even though at home there is nothing to do as we have to wait until this scums defence decides if they want a 2nd autopsy or not. Once they have then we can get him back and organise his funeral which is probably not going to be until next week at the earliest.

I just do not understand the World at the moment and idiots like this lad who think it's alright to go home and get a knife and attack someone. Makes you wonder what kind of upbringing then must have had to be so violent.

Luke, my deepest condolonses during this terrible time and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. This is terrible and sadly a reflection of the changing society we live in. I hope those responsible are bought to justice quickly as they have not only destroyed one life but a whole family.

Hay Luke

i cant imagine what your going through right now, as Declan says sadly these type of terrible crimes are becoming more and more part of everyday life, its horrible too that the world now just seems to accept it.

I really do hope those responsible are brought to justice in the hope you and your family may be able to get some kind of closure and begin to grieve.

My very best wishes to you
Drew

Thanks guys, it's great to know people are here for all life throws at us.

We are a strong family and we'll get through it come hell or high water. Like most things it's just going to take time.

I was always appalled by the increase in Knife Crime but never paid too much attention to it.

Now my eyes have been forced open I feel I have to get involved somehow, maybe with one of the charities that are doing good work with youngsters to deter them from carrying ad using knives.

Ive just caught up too, Im so sorry to hear of your loss & the circumstances it was under.

The society we live in now is frightening & we just cant take anything for granted anymore.
I have 2 little boys (7 & 5) and the more I hear about this going on, the more I start to worry about their future & safety when they become young men.
A close friend of mine lost her husband due to a diving accident just over 10 months ago, Leaving behind a 7 & 5 year old. Watching n going through the process with them was really hard & obviously still going through now. Its hard for any child of any age to understand the loss of a daddy. But talking & being open about it has been the best thing for my friends children. We & they are always talking about Daddy.

Sending you & your family lots of love n thoughts, Lyns xxxx

Thanks guys, I'll pass on the warm wishes to his Parents.

I just suppose we have to fight against what is happening through education and severe punishments for those who break the law.

I have always though (even before this happened) that if you are caught carrying a knife and it's obviously ot for your job, fishing or you've just bought them for your house then you should go to prison for 5 years and serve 5 years.

I was speaking with a Police Officer yesterday through my work duties and it dawned on me that the alleged killer if pontentially found guilty would most likely on the grounds of good behaviour be out within 10 years!!

He would be younger than I am now, plenty of time to have a life still. I think sentences need to reflect the crimes, if you take a life on purpose you spend the rest of yours inside a cell......

Should be sent down for life, which should mean life.

I'm also of the generation that welcomed the death penalty for murder and wished they would bring it back.
