Hi

Can anyone offer me some advise? I have accumulated approx £26k of debt over 10+years and have been able to manage the repayments; until recently due to change in circumstances which meant that I had to move to NZ with my wife to help her elderly parents.

I am also a CIMA student who has passed all the exams but yet to apply for full membership (about to apply). I am wondering about the potential impact of an IVA on me here in NZ and also how this could impact my CIMA membership.

I have contacted CIMA to confirm the impact and they basically told me nothing other than they don't want any info out as this would dissuade people from disclosing an IVA.

What I would like to know is:

1 Would an IVA in the UK show up on any NZ Credit Check?
2 What action are CIMA likely to take if I enter into an IVA.

My understanding is your debt would be visible in New Zealand on any searches undertaken.

I have heard over the years that IVAs for those working in a financial field can place restrictions on ability to complete their full range of duties.

Upfront and honesty to the potential employer is often best approach to work out a way forward.
