Sandra was calling regarding her father-in-law who was in an IVA before he passed away. Her mother-in-law has to sell her property to pay off the IVA and she will have to pay off the rest of what is due herself. She will be left with next to nothing, so she would like some advice about this.

The IVA can ony have a call on the deceased's share of the equity. Her share is hers alone. I would suggest a chat with the IP to see how the ground lays and then a chat with a solicitor, if need be -- you can often get an initial consultation free of charge.
