Well, I have found out its for a consolidation loan that will last 15 YEARS! So I spoke to the girl and explained about an IVA - that the interest was frozen etc. And by the time the 15 years was up she would have been 10 years debt free. She says she has about £23,000 owing, but about £3000 is secured.
Do you think I have done the right thing.
Its now time to start living and to make some some wonderful memories!

There is no harm in advising your friend to seek some free advice. Consolidation may be the right option although in my opinion it often is not. Depending on her equity and personal income and expenditure an IVA or DMP may be more suitable so you did the right thing by telling her to take another opinion.
Its just she is a single woman. Looking at the paperwork it looks like she is securing it against her house. I explained about equity release and that yes it did affect credit but 5 years is only a 3rd of 15 years. I also explained that its all decided with income and expenditure reviews etc.
Just worried as she has taken out loans before.
