We completed our IVA in 2015 and things have been good since, until recently when we enquired about a re mortgage with our bank. The bank (Nat West) which we have been with for at least 10 years, said they were sorry but the couldn't offer one as we had a marker against our name with them, even though our credit file is clear?? Does anyone know anything about these markers and how long they can last? The lady we spoke to at the bank said there wasn't anything she could do about it, and didn't know anything about it and couldn't find anything about it.

Unfortunately some banks keep markers for a long time and there is nothing you can do about it other than complain. If you go into a branch then sometimes they can override the computer.

The banks will keep their own internal records for as long as you are a customer and up to seven years after your relationship with them ceases. There is little you can do about this.
I would suggest a chat with Ryan and / or Shaun about remortgaging elsewhere.

Their contact details can be gleaned from their profile pages here:

My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Shop around. Its their loss given you have clearly kept your mortgage payments up throughout!!

Must be a Natwest thing!
We have banked with them during IVA (got their basic foundation account when opened new account prior to entering IVA).
Still with them a year after it finished. Applied for a credit card and overdraft after IVA and when credit report cleared as a means to improve credit history thinking it would be ok given history with them and no...got declined!
Credit card opened with other company and an ex-creditor has accepted us for a mortgage! Its bonkers!
If you use Clearscore or Totally Money they have links to cards etc which will accpet you and show the rate youd get rather than applying blindly as thats damaging to report too. Best of luck it can and does improve. Definitely speak to the guys at Select too as can help with mortgage options.
