I was with Spectrum too, for just over 6 years - when I entered into an agreement with them, I believed I'd be free of my debt within 5 years (based on the advert I'd responded to). 6 years on, I contacted them to ask what was happening - and only then discovered that I wasn't in an IVA at all and that my payments would be ongoing indefinitely. I was now more knowledgeable and had researched IVAs. I contacted Debt Free Direct re an IVA - was concerned that I'd not be able to take an IVA out due to my agreement with Spectrum, but this was not a problem. Just over a year ago I agreed an IVA with DFD and things are going well. DFD have all along been nothing but helpful and professional. The amusing thing was - when I contacted Spectrum to let them know I was leaving them because I'd found a better solution to my financial situation, they then offered the IVA option to me - I thought no way am I continuing with them (and had also read bad press about them)!!! My IVA payments are not much more than under what turned out to be my DMP with Spectrum, and my creditors are getting much more with my IVA than with the DMP. I highly recommend DFD to you - good luck and let me know how you get on.

(Skip and kallis3 - I couldn't agree more re Big Brother!!!!!!!)

Firms like this should be taken out of the debt management industry. I simply cannot believe some of the stories I hear - on a daily basis - about incredibly bad advice. Is this company still trading?

What a disgrace this company is.

I wonder how many people think they are in an IVA and in fact they're not.
