Hi, thanks for the responses on my other questions so far, everyone has been great this site is brill !

Any way have just been going through my husbands things with him and they are asking for a confirmation letter from my mum confirming he pays board, he has been paying £200 p/m but she hasnt actually accepted anything from him for some time now as he had a breakdown re the financial situation when it all came out and so he literally gave her it in 1 hand and then she gave straight back to him to pay the bills !
So I wonder how she would phrase the letter? Just stating yes he pays £200, or yes he usually pays £200?
The board payments really she only used to help with the household bills and food, u no?
they surely wont delve into her financial affairs would they ?

Please help! Chelle

Hi Chelle,

Rest assured that they will not delve into your mums finances.

I presume he will start paying again if an IVA is accepted?

I this is the case then I would suggest that she just puts down that he is paying £200 a month for board.

I agree with Kallis, I paid board as I lived with family during my IVA, and had a period when I struggled and family would not accept anything for a time.

I never disclosed this as it was only short term, but like you worried about it. Just get a letter saying it is paid.

That's unusual - the IP usually needs proof of how much you pay.

I just gave them the amount I pay and that was it.

If your son pays board then this should be disclosed to your IP as it is extra income. Your expenditure can also be upped to include extra food etc but you should tell your IP.

Hi fivebyfive,

It obviously depends on the IVA company by the looks of it, but all I did was send a handwritten letter "to whom it may concern" stating that I confirmed that I paid my mother the amount of XXX per month for board and lodgings, signed it myself, and mum countersigned it. Whether I have to do this for every annual review, I don't yet know of course.
Final payment 1st April 2016.
Completion Certificate received 19th May 2016.
