Hello,

Regarding building my credit score up, if I have direct debits in my name (but the account isn’t in my name) that I make payments for on time (such as Netflix, sky etc). Will this show on my credit report or is it only credit that is in my name that counts, such as phone bills, cars etc

Thank you

It will be credited to the named account holder, not to you.

Thanks Foggy

Once my iva is complete I’ll be moving in with my parents so I’m looking on getting things like eon, united utilities, tv license in my name and my bank account. Will this help build the score?

E-on report to the agencies, as do many banks (but not all) and all fgreen ticks are helpful. Make sure you are on the electoral roll too. Many mobile phone companies also report to the agencies. TV licence do not, as far as I am aware, report.

Thanks Foggy - yes I’ll get on the electoral roll. I think I’ll have British Gas, sky, tv license and the water bill going to my name. I already have life insurance in my name. My phone contract however isn’t in my name. Is it a good idea to get these things in my name? I’m hoping showing that I can pay these on time will increase my score as I do have a lot of missed payments on my credit file due to coronavirus

Don't overthink your score just now .... it will remain low all the while that your IVA is on file ( 6 years from the start date at least).
