Hi there were looking at buying our council house in the right to buy. But I have a IVA which still has 12 months left to pay. Will this effect my chances of this opportunity? Thankyoy

Bottom line ... you will not get a mortgage while the IVA is showing on your credit files ( 6 years from the start date at least).

Agree with Foggy - you stand no chance at all of getting a mortgage at the moment.

I'm afraid there's no real possibility of achieving this at present. It is very rare for a lender to consider lending to you whilst you are still in the IVA and those who would do not offer mortgages for 'Right-to-Buy' Council House purchases. In any event you would also need the approval of your Insolvency Supervisor which, in itself, might prove difficult. if you are able to I'd consider delaying the purchase until your IVA has been concluded.
