I am currently applying for a iva and the meeting takes place on we'd with my creditors. One of the debts is joint and my ex partner has now recieved a letter to say payment to be made in 7days if not the bailiffs will be round. Can they chase the other party after a iva has been agreed by one party. Also my ex partner is applying for an iva, so are they still allowed to come round when both parties are trying to sort out their debts.
You should have been told by your IP that for any joint debts the other partner is jointly and severally liable for the debt too,and will be hounded for the money owed even though though its covered by the iva.
Bailiffs rarely appear and are normally just an empty threat.

Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.

Hi and welcome to the forum Paul is correct in what he's saying in respect of a joint debt. I would go back to your IP to get a full explanation and good luck for Wednesday (?). x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
Your ex should contact their own IP and hurry the process along if there is any threat of bailiffs. Your IP had no real obligation to your ex although they should have advised you of what would happen.
They'll need a Court Order to allow them to send in bailiffs. My guess is that they don't have one and are merely using this to threaten your partner. If he is proposing an IVA in his own right this should take care of the matter in due course.
