Hello, I had an IVA back in 2008. One of the creditors was HMRC. We were lucky enough to present a payment lump sum part way through the IVA, which the creditors accepted. We have been free of this for about 10 years now. We have a certificate to say its all sorted. However I am really having issues with HMRC and my self assessment. Everything I speak to them they ask if I was ever bankrupt. I explain no it was an IVA and was all finished with a certificate. So my question is even though the completion of the IVA has happened, can HMRC as for money that was owed ?

They shouldn't be able to if they were included. You could try sending them a copy of your completion. If they ask again you can truthfully tell them you have never been bankrupt and see what they say to that.

Who was your former IP ? Can they liase with HMRC and sort this out ? HMRC have a dedicated IVA section in Barringtom Road, Worthing ( last I heard) . It may be worth getting in touch with them ---- your IP should have contact details.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
