The IVA will stay on your credit file for 6 years from the date it started.

I meant to say, if Dad could help by paying off the IVA couldn't he help with somewhere to live instead?

If the IVA is paid up your credit score will improve, but only by a very little. As Steve says yhe IVA will show on the credit files for 6 years from the start and, until that has gone, your credit rating will remain very low.

Why do you need credit ? Again, as Steve has suggested, could your dad help with deposits and advance rent, maybe be a guarantor ?
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
