If I have 5 years left on my IVA and currently not named on our house mortgage, if my husband remortgaged to buy a bigger family home as another bedroom is needed as what we have is not big enough, can he remortgage without my IVA having to be paid off? As it’s not fair for him and my children to suffer for my mistake
And sorry I have no working telephone
Assuming that there's no interest in your Husband's property (hence Foggy's question) it's possible but a little complicated. Technically not all lenders insist that applications by married people are in joint names but many do. Ultimately anyone recommending a mortgage to your Husband would need to take into account his financial circumstances and, to all intents and purposes, it's difficult not to see your finances as inter-related. If you have any joint loans or bank accounts etc. you will be shown as financially linked.
I'm also not sure whether this might affect your IVA in anyway....possibly one of the other experts could comment on this.
