Any recommendations for IVA friendly ones??

Been with Citroen for 5 years with my car, got my renewal quote this morning, i nearly fell over!! £762!! WTF! I havent paid that much since i was a teenager! just a joke, called them asking if it was an error but not, just shocking.

I need to pay monthly as really havent got the cash up front, going to pop to my bank as they offer car insurance and i pay my home contents monthly with them so hoping it will work out ok, but if i go somewhere else it will involve a credit check, which im bound to fail. So anyone else change insurers mid iva? and anyone who was particularly helpful?

Hi,

As far as I am aware most do not make credit checks as it is not technically a form of credit.

Go on these websites, I saved a fortune:

www.comparethemarket.com
www.confused.com
www.gocompare.com

I have just renewed mine and saved around £200 from my renewal price. Used confused.com and M & S were the cheapest, monthly payments went through without a problem. I dont think there is a credit check as if you dont pay you are not insured.

Well i phoned them back to cancel, 30 mins to get through on the phone, but eventually got through, some arguing and they have matched last years renewal, but as daft as it sounds it cheaper to ensure the car on the street outside my house, than it is to insure at a friends house off the road eh? i don't get it but the cars coming home now.

Glad you got it sorted - that was a ridiculous quote!

They said it was due to excessive claims in the last few years and uninsured drivers, to which i replied i haven't claiimed in 9 years and also im not uninsured so why should i be punished! managed to get the price to match this years current payments, still not happy, if i wasn't in my iva i would tell them where to stick it and go somewhere else, but hey its done.

It does annoy me that those of us who are careful drivers and pay our insurance are penalised because of the ones who don't.

I've just changed mine to AXA with no problems, found that they where the cheapest ( this yr ) for me.

I have swapped companies each yr during my IVA and had no problems at all

When I was looking to change my insurance last year there were a couple of companies that wouldn't let me protect my no claims bonus as I'd had a claim in the last 5 years which seems a bit unfair to me.

When buying car insurance and getting a quote through confused.com, gocompare.com, comparethemarket.com and other price comparison sites. It is worth knowing that these companies are multi million pound companies because for every policy you buy through their site they receive a commission.

Why not sign up for one of the cashback websites, like Quidco.com or Topcashback.com. This way the commission is paid to the cashback website and they give it to you. Generally the quotes you get are the same and you can save a fortune.

For instance, I got £55 cashback for buying car insurance and £100 cashback for house contents insurance which only cost me £73, so in effect I was paid £27 for insuring my household contents. Crazy!

You can still use the price comparison sites to get quotes, but when you want to buy a policy use the cashback website and follow their link. Dont use the buy now on the comparison site.

Insurance prices are rising fast at the moment so any way to save a few pounds is worthwhile.

If you do any online shopping you can earn a small percentage of cashback, and we all know as Tesco keep telling us, "every litte helps".

I checked with my IP to ensure I could keep any cashback and they said I could.

Thats really usefull - thank you!

Im looking to change our policy altogether as I have been the main driver for the past 4 years.
But my husband uses the car alot more than me n therefore need to be the main driver now.
I knew those comparison sites got a fee n sometimes of you get the cheapest quote of them n they go through the insurance company themselves - you see the difference!!
Final IVA payment made in April 2013, never ever thought we could do it or get through it but we did! X

MrsNight.

They are really useful, you can get cashback on virtually anything you buy, from groceries, holidays, flights, and insurance.
Even just a few pence all adds up.
I am a member of the 2 sites I mentioned and they both give the most cashback. I have been a member for 5 years now and have never had any problems. They are both trustworthy.

There are lots of these cashback sites now, but be careful as some of them only give you a small percentage and keep the rest for themselves. The 2 I mentioned give you 100% of the money.
There is a £5 per year membership, but you dont have to pay that if you dont earn it, so its win win all the way.
