My homes flooded due to all rain we’ve had myself partner and 5 kids are in a hotel for god knows how long my homes like a bomb site and has been for months all I’ve done is cry today we was expecting getting living room and hall damp proofed instead we’ve got to have all down stairs dug up if I get any compensation will I have to pay it into Iva I’m really worried because if we do get anything we need to get the house bk to normal I’m so upset having to stay in hotel with 5 kids is heartbreaking

You need to check with your IP as to what he will agree to, but I would argue that the insurance payout is for a specific purpose, i.e. repairs and is to be used for that purpose only. Some insurers will pay contractors direct, which would help. Best to get the IP on side.

You should be fine as not benefiting but just replacing damaged goods etc.
Just keep your IP updated on what has happened and what will see going forward in regards to money in and out of your bank account.
Main thing is not to stress and it may also be worth speaking with your IP as may need assistance (payment breaks) if you have had to take time off to rectify issues
