I am an O2 customer and took up their advertisement for a load & go card. I applied online and it said I had already have one so I called the helpline - its natwest apparently. And they say I have been refused. they can't tell me why.

I'm a bit peeved because obviously it isn't a credit card and its probably because I am in IVA that I have been refused [:(]

Ive had a similar problem trying to get one of their cards too. Though Ive not been told I already have one - just it comes up there has been a problem at the end of the online application.
Ive tried it several times with both mine n hubbys 02 mobile numbers for verification n still get the same answer.
I believe you have to be an 02 customer to get one - but didnt think it would be this hard!
Sorry I cant be much help.
Final IVA payment made in April 2013, never ever thought we could do it or get through it but we did! X

I've tried numerous times too, so called them up and apparently I have to wait until a year has passed since 1st refusal, so april 2011. I don't really see how I can be refused?? but anyway I'll do without, it just would have been handy on occasion.

How strange, I got one ages ago when they first come out but can't say I actually use it, it's not a credit card and you can only spend what you have on there so surely they should give them away to customers x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I've got one as well and had no problems either.

I'm like you Lesley, I dont use mine.

That sounds very strange. I was under the illusion that ANY 02 customer can get one regardless of the their credit history. I was told that they check the election role thing though, how true that is I don't know.

I only got it at the time as VISA is accepted in a lot more places than my SOLO bank card. But now Natwest Step Account comes with a VISA card standard.

I am having issues with the card, I'm finding more and more places that for some reason don't accept it. Previously there was any hotel revesations, TRAVELEX and Car rental agreements. Now the free cash point by me doesn't like it and nor does TESCO's. I've called them up, they said that the TESCO one was going through as a credit card which is why it was declined (same as why the 3 at the top don't work) but couldn't explain to me why the cash point wouldn't work.
-There is money on the card
-card works fine in other cash points
-cash point ok as withdrew money out of bank afterwards

As for the PAYPAL one, I just don't agree with paying to draw my own money out. So PAYPAL get a slap in the face and a no thanks off me!

unfortunately we aren't an o2 customer, and looking around the Paypal card was the next cheapest. x

At the time most of us got prepaid cards they were pretty much the same. You either paid a monthly fee, or a one off and with most you had to pay to withdraw cash. I only ever used mine for spending though. Used my bank cash card for the readies.
