I have my completion certificate and credit files are clear, still on register until end of September (hopefully). I looked at Totallymoney credit file and it suggested likely credit cards I would be accepted for. Decided to apply for M&S but was turned down, letter explaining why would come in the post. Received two letters today one as promised but the other saying as I already had an active account if I required a new card to ring them? ( I did have an M&S account which formed part of my IVA). I have since decided that I don't need a credit card and wonder why I need to improve my credit rating as I will retire next year. I am just curious to know if anyone else has had a response like this?
If you are still on the register they might have seen that, albeit marked completed. And, it could also take creditors a while to clear / close old accounts that were in the IVA.
I wanted a credit card "just because I could", even though, over 6 years on, I still don't actually use it (buy some petrol now and again and pay it off in full, just for the 'history'). I went for Vanquis, a card designed for credit re-building. After those 6 years they have just reduced my interest (which is academic) from 39.9% to 19.9%.
I, too, am now retired, although I took it early, so 'real' credit is out of my reach anyway --- but just wanted to feel 'normal' again.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
Have to say Foggy, we are both retired and have normal credit for my stairlift and our adjustable bed.

If we didn't have those I'd end up falling out of bed and down the stairs!
