Hi
I completed my IVA early in about June 2009 and it was due to finish Feb 2010 so some Feb 2011 it will drop off the credit report as will any defaults as I understand it. My question is that I got married 2 weeks ago and my wife is now keen to get her name changed but I wanted to double check that by changing her name, her credit report/score etc would not be affected by my history. We do not have any associations other than a cash card joint account. What are your thoughts please?
All done, what a relief!

Hi
An interesting question.
I guess the safest thing would be to wait until Feb 2011 or later to be sure, however as long as she doesn't want any credit before that date it will make no difference if she changes it now.
Wait for other responses as this is just my opinion
Regards

Can she file a notice of disassociation?

If not, then I think I would wait until everything is completed.

If it has finished then I'd make sure all defaults post IVA have been removed.

I doubt your wifes credit report would be affected as the debts were recorded in your name.

If you have a current joint account being reported at the CRA, you will not be able to file a notice of disassociation.

However, if the association already exists at the CRA then I doubt changing her name will have any affect on her credit rating as you would both already be tied to the same address anyway.
