Hi there

Does anyone know just out of interest whether IPs access clients credit reports over the term of the IVA to check whether any further credit has been obtained?

Thanks

Not as far as I know. The search woud show on your file anyway.

Agree with Foggy.

Searches will show on your credit report file. As far as I am aware they cannot conduct a search without informing you and you agreeing (unless there is something in the terms of engagement giving them permission -- which wouldn't surprise me).

I doubt that an IP would have the time nor the inclination to conduct speculative searches anyway.

Thanks Foggy

So how would they find out if you obtained any further credit without their permission?

Things come out of the woodwork occasionally giving them cause to look ... regular payments appearing on bank statements, the lender contacting the IP, a "concerned neighbour" (you would be surprised!). Thing is, although a formal debt solution, a lot of the IVA is built on, and depends on, trust. If that trust is broken, things can get difficult !
