I completed my IVA just got my certificate and my credit score is 999 out of 999 ,not that I want to but does this mean I could now get a credit card even though my hubby is still in an IVA and is waiting to see if he can remortgage to release equity ,does that affect me I am not on the mortgage thanks
A credit score of 999 is not a good score --- it is a default score given when they cannot give you an accurate score for whatever reason. Lenders do not see numerical scores anyway, but see the actual history, including the presence of the IVA.

IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
Oh dear I didn't know that just the guy I spoke to on Monday about sending my certificate out said you should have great credit now its probably better than mine so I just went off what he said ive never been on any of these credit score sites before so didn't know how they work what do you think I should do now ??
Get yourself an account woth Noddle and Clearscore.
They are free to register with.
Wegot our Certificate in Nov, each have a credit card with low limit, no defaults and the IVA has been removed.
credit score is gradually increasing but its slow.
Your credit will be shot especially as only just had certifcate so youll still be on the register for a couple of months. IVa will remain on your credit record until the 6th year that you entered it (that could be soon if you did an extra year but i dont know your story).
You need to check your credit report for defaulted accounts with incorrect dates and ensure everything is dayed at the time you started iva. Noddle gives you free access to it.
Each one has a different scoring system but as Foggy said its your history that counts. defaulted accounts and IVA need to go before you see credit score improving.
Sorry you dont have the 999 that you thought. But it will get better in time.
6 years was up last September my certificate had been ready since November but no one sent it I was just waiting when I got in touch on Monday he told me this and promised to send it but he didn't so I rang again Thursday and that person finally sent it got it Friday but iv' done 6 years and waited 8 months for it so I thought credit would be fine by now as he said

Things don't start to happen until the right people are informed -- which is why we need to keep an eye on things and get involved ourselves if needs be.

Wow thats quite a delay for you.
Well hopefully now you have it youll see things improve.
As long as its been sent to the Credit Reference Agencies too so they can update your record.
We are registered with Clearscore, Noddle, experian amd Totally money to keep an eye on how things are going. Tad excessive but im a bit of a control freak.
I got myself a Barclays freedom reward credit card with an £750 limit 6 months post IVA and used it wisely. Its a starter card and every few months they put your credit limit up - I noticed that when my limit went up, my credit score got better. Very small steps but 3 years later I could probably get any card I wanted and my limit is £2,500 and I have a second card too with a similar amount. Not that I would abuse them like I did a few years ago and forced myself onto an IVA - once bitten and all that.
Thanks for all the good advise guys as usual don't know what i'd do without this Forum ,I will have plenty more questions till my hubby's is ended i;m sure
