I have been speaking to Donovan at Debt Advisory Helpline Ltd. This company seems to be based in Leeds. They name Steven Cooke as the licensed Insolvency Practitioner. I can only find a Steven Cooke in Chorley. I am trying to make sure I am using a proper Insolvency Advice company if I go with Debt Advisory Helpline as they seem to be a new company and Steven Cooke is not a director as far as I can see. We got the number from the internet from a debt advisory search. I am trying to help my husband sort out a debt problem and do not want to get scammed from a call centre operation.
They are a legitimate company but please look at one or two other firms before making a decision. If you look at one or two posts on here you will see which companies people recommend. Try some of the smaller companies.

Mr Cooke is listed by the Insolvency Service as being with DAH Ltd, based in Leeds. He is listed as being a member of ICEAW.
As Kallis says, have a chat with a few providers --- I am afraid to say that they are all sweetness and light until they have you on the hook, so do look for recomendations.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Debt Advisory Line was dissolved in May this year - don't know if it is the same company.

Steven Cooke is the former IP at Swift Insolvency, who went into liquidation in September 2019. Swift weren't active for long, and operated mainly from 2017 to 2019. Most of their cases were then sold to Aperture. So yes, the IP is legitimate, and is regulated by ICAEW.
As mentioned by others, do your homework and talk to a few companies before making a decision.
Hi! I used to work for one of the UK's biggest Insolvency Practitioners - I don't work for an IP anymore but still have an extensive knowledge of the IVA industry. How can I help?
