I have been in a IVA since aug 19, capital one went into default ( as expected) but amigo loans has had it as missed payments every month since which i have only just noticed.
I would assume its what is causing my credit score recovery to be so slow.
Any advice as I do hate talking to amigo, should I just speak to my IP?

Your credit score is shot for six years from the start of the IVA regardless, but I would ask your IP to speak to Amigo and ask them to remove these 'missed' payments.

Have a read here: https://www.iva.co.uk/what-does-an-iva- ... dit-record and use the template and guide to ask Amigo to formally default the account. Knowing Amigo, you might have a fight on your hands but you have a few years to do it in. This, in itself will not be hampering your credit recovery yet. As Kallis says, your score is shot anyway for now.

I contacted amigo and they said they default internally and won't change it for credit reports.

Uhhhh only one that won't.

They said missed payments look better the defaults...not sure if that's true though.

I'm not sure either. Once your IVA has completed you need to get them removed back to the start of the IVA.

If they do not default those missed payments will stain your credit record for 6 years after the end of your IVA, rather than 6 years from the start of it.

Use the template and the information either side of it in the article I posted the link to --- tell them that you will refer the matter to the ICO if they do not comply.
