Hi, I am a civil servant and was in an IVA for 5 Years and have been cleared now for 4 years. I never told my line manager about the IVA because I thought it was only if you were bankrupt that you had to say. My 10 year security clearance is up and it says on the questionnaire" have you been in an IVA". I am in a finance role and am scared that when I tell them I will lose my job. I have monthly and yearly finance checks and have been proven to be trustworthy. Will the IVA stop me from doing my or any other finance jobs in the future?
I think you have to be honest and disclose it - you can explain why you didn't do it. Hopefully the fact that you have a good record will go in your favour.

The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.

Those security clearances are quite invasive, you will probably need to disclose it and hopefully be able to explain why. Maybe check HR guidance on intranet before completing the forms to see what the policy is. Makes me laugh that civil service treat any one in an IVA as untrustworthy (I would have needed my payment access revoking in my old job in case I decided to pay myself money) I always thought surely someone who hasn't found a way to deal with debts and who is struggling is more of a risk?
I am a civil servant and was so when in our iva. I had to inform them from the outset and was not allowed to work in our finance office for the duration of the iva (jobcentre) ... once it was over I was then allowed to re-engage.
Totally ridiculous in my opinion as you are not not trustworthy but rules are rules.
Bankruptcy rules were even stricter 10 years ago in the civil service.
