Hi,
I'm coming up to my third year of my IVA. Like many, covid hit me hard and I was made redundant, I told the IVA company and they asked if I needed a reduction in payment which I did, they said there will be an extension on payments which I agreed to (I didn't have a choice) they are saying the extension cannot be taken off, so I still have 62 months to pay it. Its written in my agreement but I'm dyslexic and no adjustments have ever been made for this. I have a job now but they haven't raised the payment despite a review. This IVA is ruining my life. I want to start a family, but after my IVA has finished and when I can buy somewhere as I want some stability for a family. I feel like I'm back to square one, it's so heartbreaking, I'm constantly stressed by this. Can I in anyway dispute the permanent extension? Feels very harsh during this pandemic when so many are suffering.
You need to make a formal complaint to your IP asking them for specific reasons and authority for this extension, which you can then argue against. If that gets nowhere you can escalate the complaint to their regulatory body and, often, the thought of this focuses the IP's mind.
Your own IP's complaints procedure should be posted on their website.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
