I am in the process of setting up an IVA. I live with my partner but she is in no way connected to the debts as these were built up before I met her. We share most of the household bills/expenses however I am being told I have to include her salary ( which is more than my own). She is not happy to do as this as this is my debt not hers and I'm afraid her income will be seen as available to either pay towards the IVA or increase her share of our monthly outgoings to allow me to pay more to the IVA.

Looking for advice on how we should handle this as it is seriously affecting our relationship.

As she earns more than you it will be assumed that she bears a relatively higher proportion of the household expenses. If you are talking to Payplan, they also have a track record of including household income in the IVA repayments.

You are quite entitled to withold any of her information and they will then assume a 50 / 50 split of expenses. Her affairs are no business of your IP.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
