Hi All and thnx to anyone who can help,
My car has gone to the scrapyard in the sky.
My arrangement has a clause allowing me to defer £1000 to replace it. But from a quick search online - Autocar and Pistonheads - I will really struggle to find a car that will be reliable for the next 4 years.
My credit controller will not budge on deferring any extra payments.
She saw my problem and even suggested I breach the agreement for a month to make up the extra. There's no possibility of borrowng from my nearest and dearest as I was told I can't put down repayments on my expenditure.
Any suggestions? Any ideas where to look for a cheap banger?
I wonder what the [8] predicts for me!

Oh no thats not fair is it. I must admit its something that worries me. ours is in tomorrow for its MOT. Maybe try any local auctions and take along someone who knows a bit about cars. You might be able to get something cheap enough to last.
good luck

£1000 to buy a car that will last 4 years isnt going to be easy at all. This for me is one of the hardest things about insolvency.

Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

It sucks. I can't believe breaching my agreement is an option...sometimes the only thing keeping me sane is knowing that I am on top of my finances. It's just not worth it, I even feel physically sick about the deferred payments because it's putting me back.
How are you getting on with your proposal? do you think an IVA will work for you?

Hi Broke of London
Do you have a Car Auction near you and a mechanic friend?
£1000 at auction may be you a reasonable car if you know what to look for.
Just nearly been down this route, but my car was repaired.
Wisjing you look,
Martyn

I know this might sound daft but can you live without the car??
Public transport, trains, buses? or even walk?
For the first 2 years of my IVA my car sat on the driveway didn't move a mile, except days off or to wash it.
Even now where i can i use a cycle to get to work, on those nice sunny evenings just cycling along. Then save some funds to replace the car a few months down the line.
I know its easy for me to talk, but if mine failed it wouldn't be too much hassle, no you can't have mine! lol

There are local auctions and I may just know a mechanic who would do a favour for me. Fab idea martgoingmad...now I'll just keep my fingers crossed for a blue Fiat Punto to come up with one careful lady owner and 10,000 on the clock LOL!!!
Hi antm - I am starting a new job and will need a car as the journey is 30mins car/ 2 hours with 1 tube and 1 bus. My hours will also vary quite a bit. My biggest concern is Xmas as I only get the big day off so will have to travel from London home to kent on Xmas eve evening and be back in London early boxing day morning to start the sales.
