We have been paying an iva for 6yrs, never missed a payment, an extra year extended because we have our own property...our last payment was due April just gone...about a month before our last payment would have been paid, we received a letter saying that they are keeping the arrangements the same for another 6months so that the supervisor can finalise his paperwork, the letter was about 2 sentences long....what I would like to know is , why have we received a letter telling us this , why havnt they spoken verbally with us to explain why and also how does it take 6months to finalise paperwork and shouldn't that paperwork already have been prepared months prior to our last payment in April. Thankyou.

A six month admin period is written into the agreement as standard. Depending on how smoothly the process goes it could only take a few weeks. To be honest you can feel honoured to have been informed at all --- most firms go very quiet around now, unless pressed.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

There are lots of things that shudda, cudda bin done. However as they work in 'departments'; closures wouldn't get to know about your case until passed to them by team 'A'. Once closures are finished with whatever it is they do then they will pass your case to completions and they will have their own timescale and masses of other 'stuff' they just found out about. Nowhere ideal and certainly not a personal touch. We are all bound by how the IVA companies system we had administering our account works. Can't get round it and there are no short cuts. I wouldn't get stressed up about it because there is nothing in your power to change how it gets done and how long it takes, sorry.
Last Payment made 04/12/14. Completion Certificate 25/7/15. IVA company GT. No Issues
