I am in IVA and my wife and I thinking about fostering a child I believe they give you money to look after that a child and by clothing and feed them and and take them places would I have to give up some of that money to the IVA even though it's not for our purpose thank you

When fostering there is an element of income in the allowances they award, and this is taken into the IVA calculations. However, the portion of the award specifically for the childs needs should be offset in your expenses allowances. It would be advisable to have a chat with your IP (and get any advice they give in writing) before going ahead with the fostering. It does take quite some time to go through the application process, then vetting and then training, so the IVA might well be done and dusted before you get to a placement.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
