I spent a lovely afternoon yesterday picking blackberries and then making jam.....okay I had to buy sugar but there is something wonderful about being able to pick wild fruit for free. I have to say those blackberry bushes are VERY painful but worth it in the end.

Sounds rewarding, unfortunately, I wouldn't have a clue where to start but do admire people who are resourceful. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

The blackberries by us are dreadful. We pick wild plums and damsons and hubby makes a mean jam!

I have recently been blanching n freezing veg that we have grown this summer, instead of giving it away. I did not realize how easy it is!
Final IVA payment made in April 2013, never ever thought we could do it or get through it but we did! X

Here is a simple recipe if anyone fancies getting out blackberry picking:
750g blackberries
1-2 large Bramley apples chopped
900g preserving sugar
juice of 2 lemons
Put everything in a large pan with 100ml of water and boil for approx
15 mins. Easy.... To test if its set put a little on a cold plate and if it wrinkles it's ready if not keep on boiling.
Have your jars washed then sterilised by popping them in a warm oven
for a while.[;)] Karen
