I'm just under 2 years into my IVA, and have thus far been making my payments etc without much of an issue - but the debt etc has caused some serious issues with my physical and mental health - As a result my circumstances will likely change for the worse as I miss work, as well as the company I work for being sort of up in the air at the same time. I've been given a settlement figure of just under 5k and my brother has very kindly offered to step in to give me this if it will help me start again and end my IVA early. I'm very nervous about the whole thing (and everything at the moment, to be honest) and was wondering whether you'd think they'd be likely to accept the offer? He's willing to offer them the full amount of the full and final figure that Creditfix quoted me. All of my debts are with Barclays.

I'm obviously not happy about taking money from him but this has been such a ball and chain now for years that I can't pass up the opportunity, but if there's no chance of them accepting for whatever reason, the conversation ends here really...
Thanks for reading.

Normally I would say that such an offer has every chance of success --- until you mentioned CF ! They are getting a history of botched offers ... see here for one final-offer-rejected-by-creditfix-are-t ... urn-t86103

Oh bugger really? That's worrying, To be honest, i've actually found CF to be really good to deal with throughout all of this - they've been very patient and helpful with me, but i've seen a lot of reports around of people having not so great experiences... I should probably give it a go anyway, I suppose? I definitely feel like everyone stands to be better off for accepting the offer than not.

How much do you pay monthly into your iva ?

Does the £5000 on offer from your brother allow for your monthly payment multiplied by months left of iva ?
Presuming it does then put the offer across but make it clear the offer is only available for the ending of your iva, if not approved you will not have access to the money.

Yeah 5k is a rounded up figure, the actual settlement figure they've given me is a little bit less than that, but he's basically offering the full amount - Not looking to negotiate any less or anything like that, he's basically just offering to pay them whatever they want to help me get a fresh start.

Offer went in yesterday - They've called me today to let me know that the Creditors meeting is in a month's time. Fingers crossed!

Excellent news --- Well Done !

One thing that CF do do well is closures, so it shouldn't be long until you are signed off. Remember, though, that your credit rating will stay shot for another 4 years or so, but, at least your money is now your own.

I know - I can survive that - I'm now in a much better position to be a little smarter with my money and already feel like a weight has been lifted.

Thank you for your advice and reassurance, by the way - I'd been lurking on here for a little while after first signing up for the IVA and posts on here have been a great help throughout.
