My IVA was approved on 21st may so things are just starting to filter through. I’m just home from major surgery so trying to recover but with this over my head and my plans to tell my employer have me Ill with worry and I know I should be focusing on my health and getting better but I just can’t. When I drift off to sleep I wake up with a bolt thinking about it with all the pains of stress, worry and shame
There is no shame - we have all been there and come out the other side. Speak to your doctor about your depression and see if they can help. You know we are always here to support you.

Without the IVA the repayment problems will have only got worse and would have 'hit the fan' far more spectacularly at some point. You have a degree of control now.

Dear Blade,
My advice is to focus on your health and echo the sentiments already posted. The IVA is a solution that is going to offer you protection in the long run and a means to 'turn things around'. Unless there is a legal imperative for doing so ie regulated profession or working in finance I wouldn't volunteer info to employer until specifically asked. I spent first 2 years absolutely agonising about being in IVA and worried needlessly, situations like being given a company purchasing card etc. Guess what, it never ever came up. I never lied or concealed it, just didn't disclose unless necessary. Give yourself a break, you deserve peace of mind and to recover your health. You have already taken a big step with IVA and just need to keep the faith. Best wishes to you.
I can’t sleep and I’m trying to recover from brain tumour surgery. I keep trying to sleep but then wake up with all this in my mind and all the worse case scenario. I keep seeing things with bankruptcy on it and the shame I feel is unbearable. I know I’ve taken legal steps to tackle this but the stigma attached to this and the thought Of people finding out is petrifying. People don’t look at the person they just see the word bankruptcy
Bankruptcy doesn't apply --- you have NOT entered bankruptcy and, if you did, you would have some pretty impressive company ! People realise, these days, and especially the last 18 months, that 'things happen' and the best laid plans go bottoms up !
All that apart, have a chat with your doctor about general anxiety. With your current condition and treatments, your mind, emotions and imagination will be all over the place regardless of the IVA -- the IVA has just acted as a point of focus.
