My 3 yr old son was awarded dla three months ago and I have my 3rd year review coming up on the 27th April. I have no idea how to include it in my expenditure and his needs change all the time. Can anyone give me any tips on how to word it etc. Totally clueless here.
You need to put down exactly what the allowances are for.

An understanding IP will simply put the DLA in the income column and equivalent expenses in the outgoings column.

DLA will be classed as Income and you need to record this as such in your I&E, however DLA is awarded to allow the displacement of funds to carry out things that cost more due to the disability. You can list these expenses to cover the full income of DLA in your I&E therefore cancelling out the awarded income. Hope that makes sense!
