I have decided to go down the IVA route to manage a 50k dept issue. At this stage I am looking at Freeman Jones.
My contact has been a bit pushy, however, I do feel they can deliver and help?

Before I post the sign contract back today, can anybody offer words of wisdom?

Hi David and welcome to the Forum.

If you have any doubts there is no harm in having a second opinion. Most IP firms will give free advice and you can go with whoever you feel most comfortable with.

Many IP firms do not charge up front fees and only get paid if the IVA is accepted so if in doubt ring another firm. Good luck.

Hi
Take a second and even third opinion from another IVA provider or two.
You are entering into a five year relationship with this provider and if you find them pushy it may give you an idea of how the relationship is likely to be.

Hi David, welcome to the forum, I woudl echo the other experts advice and suggest you speak with a couple of other copmanies to just make sure you are happy moving forward. You will be surprised at how companies can differ in the way they handle clients, the budgets that are discussed and the success rates they have.

If you are feeling pushed that is not a good sign and remember an IVA is for the duration not just the first stage of getting it in place.

You will see on here and www.ivamcom what other poeple have said about their experiences with different companies.

Hi David and welcome to the forum, a good link provided above by Tina www.iva.com lists companies and some reviews. Our professionals on the forum also come highly recommended and can be found via the experts link to the left.

You need a good working relationship that will last 60/72 months with any potential IP. Make sure they're approachable and contactable.

All the best. x

I've heard a few people report that the larger IVA providers are being pushy lately. I wonder if there is any reason for this?

I am with Freeman Jones and I am coming up to my 2nd annual review. So far they have been excellent. However I must say that I found this forum after I went into my iva and I would have looked at more companies for advice in the beginning. When i read some of the reviews on here i realise that I was lucky that the company i am with is a good one, it could so easily have been a different story.

My IVA have just been excepted at 53p in the pound with 15% running charges to Freeman Jones

The only complaint at this stage is that it is almost impossible to talk to anybody at FJ.

Today I have just recieved a 2.5& pay rise from September. Does this mean we have to start all ovet again?

Why is it impossible to speak to anyone at your IP firm? An IVA is a personal appointment to the IP concerned, and therefore you have the right to speak to them at any time you need to.

David try this link to find the direct email address of your IP, as Melanie states you have the right to speak with him/her at any time you need to. x
