Hi Chris and welcome to the forum. In most cases I think the answer is no, but again I think it would depend on your job/position. What do you do? I teach and my employers don't know about my financial business. One of our proffesionals will be along soon to advise further. x

Depending upon what your job is, or what your companies policy is, then your employer doesn't need to be informed.

I agree with the others, check your contract. In most cases you wouldn't need to tell your employer, although it's getting more common for new contracts to include a clause that dictates "any legal agreement with creditors must be disclosed" .
It is pretty unlikely - but as the other posters have suggested check out the T&Cs in your own contract or have a confidential chat with your HR department.
