An anonymous call to your HR dept will confirm whether or not your force area is IVA friendly so to speak.
You dont have to go to court with an IVA,but some forces arent keen, although that attitude is fast changing due to the massive increase in cases of personal insolvency.

I deal with a lot of police officers, and most forces these days are very supportive to officers who are taking control of their debts by proposing an IVA.

I think its ok if you are already in the police force and that you tell them what you are planning to do. But if you were already in an IVA and then apply for the police force, then you'd get turned down.
