I'm worried about trying to obtain a mortgage following the completion of paying my iva. Although I was in need of the financial help I was completly mis-informed of the adverse credit I have both during and following the agreement. It sounds stupid, but if I don't manage to get on the property ladder with enough working age to pay for a home then surely I will suffer money problems in old age?

Hi
Once the IVA is off your credit record [six years from when it started] you should be able to obtain a mortgage if you have a decent deposit, say 15-20%

Owning your own property is not the be all and end all to a comfortable retirement - a good pension scheme started as soon as you can would also be very helpful.
