Good morning. The worst thing has happened - my boiler has broken down. A relative has offered to help buy me a new one and will transfer money into my account to do so. Is this allowed when in an IVA? Should I ask my IP for permission before I accept their very kind offer? Thank you in advance for your advice.

How much is the gift worth? If it's under £500 you should be ok. Alternatively you could ask for a payment break to fund the new boiler.

I would ask the relative if he or she could pay the boiler company direct, then there would be no need to explain any unusual activity on your bank statements.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Agree with foggy - however at worst, get your friend to write a letter explaining the money is a gift for sole purpose of a new boiler, and not available for anything else. Then if questioned you have it ready to show.
