Inheritance - I received a cheque from a family members will who I had no idea about or have any contact with , it was put into my letter box with a hand written note , was not dealt through solicitors .
I sent a copy of the cheque and letter to my iva practitioner who said to ring them back when the cheque clears . My cheque has been rejected and I have no contact with the family members , My brothers has also been rejected , the money was left from a great grandad who left his estate to his wife who has passed away who left it someone else who has passed away so I have no way of contacting these people , what do I tell my iva company , as it looks like the funds where not available in the account the money was being sent to , I’m worried because I did everything right with the iva in declaring my windfall and sending all the evidence over and at the moment it looks like there is no windfall after all . It was a large amount of money so I’m pretty sure my iva are not going to be impressed and I don’t know what to do .
You have evidence that the cheque was rejected and your IP will have to accept that.
Whoever has administered the estate should be traceable through the Probate Registry if you wish to pursue the matter of where this money might be ( your IP might want you to do this, but I wouldn't plant the idea in their mind).
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
