Hi, my IVA is due to end next month. My mum has just passed away a couple of weeks ago.... I will be receiving a good amount of inheritance... but my question is does the inheritance start from the day she passed or the day I receive the money? Thanks

Sorry to hear about your Mum. Unfortunately the inheritance starts from the day she passed.

I thought that might be the case.☹️ The other question to ask is.. because it will take around 6 months to receive my inheritance, how will my IVA know if my last payment to them is next month?
In other words... How will the IVA know that my mum passed away while I was still in the agreement?

They may check or even ask you the question as you will have to do a final review.

I'm afraid you have a duty to inform the IP - check the terms under the windfall section of your proposals.

Failure to do so is breach and will likely fail your IVA.

Really sorry to hear of your sad news. As others have said you will need to inform your IP of the inheritance due and be led by them.
You will be liable for the balance of your original debt plus potentially statutory interest and IP fees. You may be able to negotiate a full and final offer to remove the statutory interest clause - I did with very similar circumstances.

Wills, inheritances and probate are a matter of public record, so they may (just 'may') find out if you do not inform them.

Sorry to hear of your loss.
