There is still something positive to be gained from this destruction -- rehabilitation. In my case I feel that years of using plastic 'disconnected' me from the real value of money --- flashing the plastic wasn't actually spending the hard earned. Then, inevitably, the brown sticky stuff hit that fan !!
The first year or so of my IVA I dealt only in cash --- what I didn't have in my pocket I could not spend. As my mum used to say "If you can't afford it, you can't have it !" I reconnected with money started to ask "Do I
need this or do I just want it?"
Seven years on from finishing my IVA, yes, I now have a small car loan (less than 50% of the cars value) and a few quid on a credit card, but no more than I could pay off overnight if I ever needed to (Credit cards are good for extra consumer credit protections).
So, your finances aren't destroyed -- they are being rebuilt
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
