Is it correct to mark as default after the IVA started?

I completed my IVA slightly earlier than due, i.e August 2017. It is six years today since the start of the IVA. I note some creditors have still marked credit file as defaulted each month during the IVA up until the date in 2017 it was settled. Is it correct to mark as default after the IVA started and if not how should I deal with it please?

Hi John,

The default date should be the same as the IVA start date. A default will appear on your reports for 6 years and then fall off so if they are dated incorrectly if you contact the Creditor, speak to their Data Controller, and ask for the date to be amended. Best to check all 3 of your reports (Experian, Equifax and Callcredit/Noddle) as different Companies search different reports.

It will not have been a new default every month -- simply the reporting of the existing one, which should have been registered with a date on or before the start date of the ICA.
