Not always -- it all depends on your whole set of circumstances: Amount of debt, disposable income, are you a home owner, and many other things, including your job, make up of creditors etc.etc.

If you could give us a brief picture we might be able to give a more useful reply.

It depends on your circumstances when compared to other options like a Debt Management Plan, A Debt Relief Order or Bankruptcy.

We would need to know things like:
What are assets do you own and how much are they worth?
What are you debts?
What is your surplus monthly income (ignoring payments to creditors)
What do you do for a living?
Here are a few videos which may give you some starting points to consider:

Personal Insolvency Options:

What is an IVA:

There are more videos on my You Tube page giving more detail.

Speak to a few companies before making a decision.

No-one can rely answer that question without full details of your situation. If you are in any doubt, or aren't convinced by who you have spoken to already, I'd try talking to another debt advice firm (possibly one of the experts or sponsors of the forum).
