Bizarre question, but I just tried to place an order online with Toy 'R' Us and when it came to the card details I selected 'Visa Debit' as the card type because thats what my card says (opened an account with Coop recently and they send out Visa Debit now not Electron as I am sure some of you will know)....anyway, on pressing 'confirm' I was told to 'check the type of card used'....so I checked all my details were correct and tried again - same problem!.
When I selected card type as 'Visa Electron' it went through fine.
Is this really an Electron card? ie: won't be accepted everywhere, but badged as a Visa debit?? Or is this just Toys R Us website?
Its a basic Coop account which back before things changed would of supplied an Electron.

Oh I'm not sure TW, I don't have the co-op account but I'm sure someone who has will be along very soon to confirm. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I suppose where Toy R Us are concerned it wouldn't matter if you had a Coop account or Nat West etc...even if your card says Visa Debit, it would seem Toy r us take it as an electron????

Hi
It is still classed as an electron.
I have come across sites that do not accept it, for example Marks and Spencer online and pay and pump petrol stations

when my wife tried to use her cashminder visa debit card at the pumps it just said pay at window.
why does it do this when its only got to check with the bank to see if you got funds available, the same as when you use it at a supermarket till where they work fine for paying and cashback?
