Hi All,

My IVA last payment was in April 2018 so i was expecting it to all be finished. Well it's now january and it isnt!

I had a letter to say they needed to investigate PPI claims around november (this was already done in year 2 of my IVA and a lot of extra money put into it) they said i had to say yes to the investigations to finish it off. So i did.

I got a letter from the bank concerned saying it was all investigated and paid out and therefore that was it and they gave me letters of reference etc from the previous claims.

What i'd like to know is why did it take my IP so long to get to this point? Took them 5 months to say i they need to check for PPI claims even though it was done years ago and they should have records of this. I still have open accounts on my credit file, whilst others are closed and i am worried that it's not the end of it all!

I have contacted them but they just say "Oh it just takes some time" and i have no other updates at all!!

It will be a year after finishing paying for it in April and i would like to know if i'm going to get a completion certificate and have all this closed off on on credit record or will it still linger there even though it's been longer than 6 years because my IP have been dragging their heels in finishing it all off?

Cheers,

They should have started PPI investigations earlier, but, in truth could even do them after completion if they chose. PPI is no reason to delay completion.

I would write, by recorded delivery, direct to your IP and ask that the certificate be issued immediately, as they have already exceeded the time limits agreed in the arrangement. Failure to comply will allow you to then complain to their regulatory body via the Government Gateway here: https://www.gov.uk/complain-about-insol ... actitioner

In the meantime, whether accounts are marked closed, settled or partially settled makes little difference as long as the defaults are dated correctly ( on or about the start date of the IVA). They will start dropping off when 6 years old. Have a read here: https://www.iva.co.uk/what-does-an-iva- ... dit-record

I agree with Foggy you should make a complaint.

You might find this quick video I made about cleaning up your credit record useful:

Noddle, Clearscore and Totally Money are also free credit agencies to consider using:

Print off all the emails and send with a covering letter of complain via registered post.
