hi i have been reading posts on this site for a couple of years ,but never got up the courage to post ,so here goes.
me and my husband started an iva with varden nuttalls in august 2004 after much struggaling and faffing about we made our last payment on 24th dec 2009(had a little extension to catch up payments).since making the last payment i have received only one letter in march telling me that the proposal had been fully implemented and there was a copy of a notice of completion for me and my husband.
Our compant have told us nothing of what happens now , i have read a few things on here saying we need to get our credit records cleared up, but i dont know how to do this or when do i have to wait till august 2010 or can i start doing it now ready for the six year date
any help from anyone would be much appreciated
First of all congratulations on successfully completing your IVA. Your credit file will clear up and things such as your mortgage, car HP, mobile phone bills etc will be on your file when all the defaulted stuff starts to drop off. You could get copies of your credit files and see if the dates of defaults correspond to the dates of the IVAs and if not you could ask for them to be amended.
The IVA may or may not be even listed on your credit file and by now your names should have been removed from the Insolvency Register so you are well on the way to having a clean credit file. It may be worth applying for a card such as Vanquis which although it has a high APR will help build up your credit scoring but try and be sure and clear it in full each month.
