I wonder if you can help. We are not due to have our creditors meeting for over a week away and all our bills are up to date, its been killing us to keep up with the payments but we have so far. Anyway my husband has received two calls now, one creditor saying he is in an Office IVA so his account has been stopped and another asking him if he has problems paying as they have him down as bankrupt. Why are they ringing us, we are not in an IVA yet and are on top of our payments
Your creditors will have been told of your IVA meeting so will be contacting you - refer them to our IVA company.

But what happens if it doesn’t get agreed and we don’t end up going into an IVA. Why have they got down that we are in one already
Often the people who contact you don't know what they are talking about --- they are a third party collections section charged with getting payment. Some I spoke to didn't even know what an IVA actually was ! If the IVA doesn't get agreed you can get the IP to negotiate payment plans or go back to struggling with the payments for now while you re-group.

Or declare ourselves bankrupt I guess. Apart from the car we pay for each month we will be no worse off than doing an IVA. I would have to see if my parents can buy us a cheap run around

BR is always an option ... but will cost £750 per person up front! If I were back in the situation I was when I entered my IVA, I would probably go for BR instead, but I had this notion of trying to pay back as much as possible --- nearly 10 years of seeing what creditors and, indeed, some insolvency firms act like has tempered that naive notion somewhat !

I agree - ignore them. It's only a call centre and they have a script to follow. If you have Sky or Bt you can have their call blocker which is free and people have to say who they are before you answer the call so I imagine most will hang up. It's solved spam calls on my phone!
