Hi all. After struggling for many many years and with worsening debt, my husband and I have decided an IVA is the best option now for us. The only problem is, as my husband is serving in the Armed Forces we are due to move to Germany in around 9 weeks' time. However we are still classed as 'being' in UK and we also have a UK/BFPO postal address. Will this cause any problems? Our outgoings will not change significantly while we are there and will be more or less the same as they are in UK.

Also, is 9 weeks realistic enough to expect an IVA to be fully set up before we go?

Thanks.

This will not be a problem - I am acting for lots of serving members of HMF who are based in Germany. It might be an idea, however, to take advice before you leave as it will be easier to get all of the documentation together before your posting.

9 weeks is very achievable in order to get an IVA in place, but I would speak to an insolvency practitioner sooner rather than later.

Thanks so much for your replies. Melanie, we would like to get it all sorted if possible before we are posted. We have got so far as putting all of our info into the CCCS website and are waiting for them to contact us. We are ready to move forward as soon as possible and already have most of the paperwork we need to provide, i.e payslips, bank statements etc. Do you know if CCCS are normally quite quick or would it be better to go through an IP directly?

It is up to you jools - a non-creditor related IP firm might be able to get things done quicker for you, but if you let CCCS know about your move I am sure they will take this on board.
