I had a look and couldn't find any other posts similar to my issue, but I'll apologise now if I'm going over old ground.
I'm with Freeman Jones (After they took over Harrington Brooks)
I paid off my IVA in full after being left money as an inheritance, back in August last year.
I was told at the time of paying, that one of my creditors had never responded to the IVA and although I needed to pay the full amount to clear all the debts (which I dutifully did), I would be due a refund of approx £1,138. Apparently they had a 14 day period after my paying the money, to lay any claim on the debt before it was wiped clean and the refund due to me.
I have just the other day received my certificate of completion, and although the paperwork does show an over-payment of £1138, I have not received a cheque/bank transfer or any other indication of how or when this money will be returned to me.
I called them to discuss this, and was told that they would have to speak to the agent who issued it (who had conveniently left for the day), and that there was some uncertainty as to whether I would even get the money back now, despite the verbal confirmation of the creditor not responding within the timeframe and the letter showing in black and white of an over-payment.
I have no idea where I stand on this, or whether I can get the ombudsman involved if they don't send the money back?
Any help/advice would be so very gratefully appreciated!
I will be honest with you - I think it belongs to your creditors as part of your IVA.
If it were me I would be focusing on a new debt free life and not looking back on things - let it go.

There is a solution for everyone .... Just need to stay positive !
Would you seriously just walk away from over £1000 you could be owed back? Especially, as you put it, when you're trying to focus on a new debt free life?
I totally agree with luluj- I would just leave it now.

Yes, if it meant putting my IVA behind me and focusing on leading a better debt free life without having to dwell on my past debts, in a heart beat.
Last Payment made 04/12/14. Completion Certificate 25/7/15. IVA company GT. No Issues
If, as you say, because of the inheritance, you paid back all of the original debt plus fees etc., then this £1138, as it needn't be re-distributed between the other creditors, is rightfully yours and I am sure that, in the fullness of time FJ will be returning it to you, having had no response from the creditor involved.
We have a Freeman Jones representative, who looks in on the forum regularly --- hopefully he will pick up on this and respond.
