Hi all

I’ve just had a call from DFD (who my IVA is with) on my recent I&E there is a payment foe £160 each month, this goes to my partner to pay for my car which is essential for work, there no saying this may not been allowed to be listed as an expenditure and they might be increasing my payments per month by another £200! Im really concerned that this is going to A) add strain to my relationship and B) leave me in a position each month that will leave me literally unable to do anything, see friends, even use the car and visit a family member due to no being able to afford the petrol. I can feel me becoming stressed already and I know I will not be able to cope with another 22 months of living like this. I thought IVA were meant to help!!

I factored the £160 in per month, if they take that away how am i supposed to live???

I really feel like DFD have never fully explained anything to me over the last 3 years, the lady i have been speaking to recently, i have spoken to twice over the last 2 weeks and i think its the most ive spoken to anyone from DFD in the last 3 years (since i started my IVA)

As im sure you can imagine im feeling pretty low and worried at the mo......just when you feel things are finally going smoothly!!!

No helen, i wasnt driving then! Its only appeared in the last 12 months! Ive been told by DFD that i should have contacted them and see what could have been arranged, well considering no one from DFD has ever contacted be apart from by letter each year for the review how was i supposed to know what other options i had??

Also im sure you can understand i dont want to take a payment holiday and extend this hell any more!!

This is seems very hard for 22k's worth of debt which only 16k has been claimed against!

Hi artemischild,

Sorry to read what a nightmare you are having. I hope you manage to get this resolved asap. I know communication sounds like it has been difficult but its always best to be upfront about any changes in your circumstances so that your IP has the best chance of working with you on them. I do hope they can sort it out for you so you can continue in a manageable way.

Keep us posted.

IP??? what IP???

Just been told mt DFD that you dont get to speak to your IP, they have a 'team' under them who you will deal with, not your IP directly!!!

Apparently thay dont deal with the 'day to day running of an IVA'.....i didnt realised situations like this was day to day!!!

Hi
To be fair to DFD any major increase in expenditure needs to be approved by the IP/Creditors.It sounds like communication problems and I hope that you can get it sorted

We had the same issues with DFD, they are nightmare. IPs there dont speak to their clients, thats what they have customer services for. We demanded on numerous occasions to speak to our IP, and were told that they dont take calls. Our IVA is done now as we did a F&F settlement, but even up to the creditors meeting, we still felt like we were banging our heads against a brick wall with them as they dont listen, unless they are benefitting from whatever you are telling them. We are now dealing with them through the proper channels.

I really do hope you manage to get your issues resolved

Ive been told that they are now a huge company and have recently taken on lots of work from other IVa companies that have folder or closed, not sure how true this is but it would sure explain why everything takes so long etc

I was really suprised today, after reading so many posts on this site advising people to 'contact your IP' and when i tried i had that response! Guess i was a little taken back really!

IPs need to remember that they are personally appointed to their cases and as such must take personal responsibility for dealing with their clients as necessary.

If any of my staff told a client that I don't deal with "day to day" stuff, I'd have them cleaning the floor with a toothbrush!

Hi Arty
For what it's worth we are with DFD and I recently emailed my IP direct after finding her contact on this link:

http://www.insolvency-service.co.uk/newipsearch.htm

I had a problem we needed help with and I emailed late one evening - I then got a very helpful response via email sorting it for us from my actual IP that very same evening (about midnight if I recall!) - so if you look up your IP and email them direct I am sure that you might find you can bypass the customer services team at least a little if you are not getting anywhere - good luck
