Hello. My Iva is completed and I have the certificate of completion which I received a few weeks ago. I am now getting letters threatening legal action from one of the IVA creditors. I thought this was not supposed to happen and what should I do.
Your advice much appreciated
Hi Chris and welcome to the forum. You may wish to change your forum name to preserve your anonymity.
You will need to send a copy of the completion statement to the creditors pestering you - I assume that your IP has already done this, but perhaps their system has not yet been updated.
Thanks for your reply.
But it gets worse.I have now found out that the reason I got the debt collection letter was because the creditor claims the IVA failed in 2007 yet as I said earlier I have a certificate of completion from the local court.I will get onto my IP but is there anything you can suggest I get them to do. Also do I need to contact credit reference agencies about this major error that seems to be against me. Its bad enough having an completed IVA against my file but a failed IVA is surely very bad for the future.
Thanks for your help
Chris
You would surely know whether your IVA successfully completed or not. Did you make all of the payments required over the correct timescale? If so, there is obviously some sort of problem at the creditor end - and your IP may be able to step in and sort this out for you.
I think it's rather strange that they say the IVA failed in 2007 and yet they have only just contacted you.
Speak to your IP in the first instance.
As to the CRAs, I would send a copy of your completion letter to all three so that they can update their records.
Have you actually checked on there to see what it says?
